David Dondero has released a tribute to Heather Heyer on the one-year anniversary of her death. Heather was killed in Charlottesville, Virginia last year when a white nationalist drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters.
Beginning August 17 this song will be for sale on all the usual digital streaming services and 100% of the sales and streaming revenue will go toward an organization aligned with Heather's beliefs.
We made you folks a summer playlist with plenty of stuff we've released over the past year, as well as new and old songs we can't stop listening to.
Sun June's "Discotheque" video premieres via Gorilla vs. Bear!
April 26, 2018
Gorilla vs. Bear was kind enough to premiere another video from the forthcoming Sun June debut album Years today.
GvB definitely "gets it"--
"...features dreamy aerial shots of Laura cruising around an unfinished Austin subdivision, past an anonymous office park, hanging at a car wash, etc., interspersed with some old family VHS footage from a less complicated time."
You can still preorder the record on limited white vinyl (seafoam green is sold out) or classic black vinyl here.
They play the Levitation after-party this Sunday, April 29 @ Mohawk on the inside stage after Waxahatchee, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Bedouine wrap up on the outside stage.
Gorilla vs. Bear premieres first single from Sun June's debut album Years, due June 15.

Buck Meek album announcement & NPR premieres "Cannonball!"
March 1, 2018
NPR Music premiered the first single from Buck Meek's self-titled debut album that we'll be releasing on May 18. The song is called "Cannonball!" and is described as
"a blast of dry heat — a sly easy-going number led by Meek's crackling guitar work and his cock-eyed vocals. The song is a thrilling elaboration of all the things that make Meek's guitar playing so compelling in Big Thief, where he serves as guitarist alongside lead singer and songwriter Adrianne Lenker. His playing in both projects is driven by a love for the sounds that make a guitar distinct — its grumbling string noise; its equal propensity to pop, slide and sigh. When he plays live, he channels the tension of his body into his dynamic playing, which is jumpy and electrifying as an ungrounded wire. Here, he matches that dynamism with his voice's own odd inflections and a twisted yarn of a story. That carefree, mischievous sound and song title befit Meek's great gift — the easy exuberance that underlies his every note." (Photo by Adrianne Lenker)

We'll be releasing David Dondero's second album, Spider West Myhskin and a City Bus, on vinyl for the first time ever in October. It was recorded in New Orleans and originally released on CD in 1999. The masters were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, but Mike Vasquez (Sweatbox Studio) has thoughtfully mastered these songs for vinyl from the CD version.
This'll be our first double-vinyl release and we're doing 100 copies on transparent purple vinyl, in addition to classic black vinyl. There are only 18 copies of the transparent purple still available, so if you'd like one the preorder link is here.
